Services
I offer individual therapy (via in-person, virtual or walk and talk) to individuals, women and men, with a focus on past and present traumas, negative belief systems, and the identity shifts, pressures, and transition period for adults who are adjusting to any role.
I also offer trauma release through EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy with an understanding of the unique experiences of First Responders and how acute, chronic and complex traumas impact both the individual and family as a whole.

Beyond my therapeutic background, I incorporate 200hr Yoga Teacher Training concepts such as yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra, breath work, mindfulness and Polyvagal Theory into my approach.
Reducing stress, overwhelm and dysregulation for individuals, professionals, parents and First Responders, while increasing resilience and discovering a sense of success within our varied roles, has become my passion.
for women
It is essential to acknowledge the deep physical, mental, and emotional toll that women experience in life, which is compounded through the stages of pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy loss, breastfeeding, pre post perinatal eras, and becoming a primary caregiver, while likely putting a familiar career on hold.
Struggling to navigate ever evolving roles and immense mental load, whether it is the first or fourth time being a parent or having a career change, is challenging. Feelings of overwhelm, while still enduring with life’s inevitable adversity, environmental factors, overstimulation and extended family dynamics, while lacking in sufficient rest if you are a parent- is normal.
The identity shift from individual to parent, in particular with the first child, often impacts our social relationships, which leads to heavy emotions in isolation, which then exacerbates the mental load of managing it all.
At Minimalist Within Therapy, I aim to acknowledge the immense organizational mental and emotional load that women face, and work together to determine what is important for you to feel strength and ease in your various roles, how to redefine your identity in matrescence, and to set boundaries as you pave your best and most joyous path forward.
for men
The struggles that men face are generally unrecognized and blatantly underrepresented in society, as is the transition to the immense responsibility assumed in fatherhood.
Mental health, stress, financial constraints and pressures, emotional burdens and identity shifts, in life, and again when entering fatherhood - while having your partner consumed with caregiving and less available for your relationship, support, and even friendship- is a completely normal experience.
Pressures mount, and although much attention is given to women's identities, career growth, societal pressures and postpartum women's mental health pre/post baby, less attention and research is given to men as they navigate their own lives (although studies show men experience postpartum mental health struggles too).
At Minimalist Within Therapy, I aim to identify, acknowledge, process and action plan around your responsibilities, career path, identity, friendships and intimate relationship, while honouring your unique experience and path forward.
for first responders
The deep impacts, extensive trauma, burnout and resulting mental health conditions that First Responders face burden not only you, but ripple effect throughout your entire social network and family system. Most people will never grasp the daily realities and residual effects of First Responder work.
At Minimalist Within Therapy, I seek to acknowledge the inevitable immense stressors that all First Responders face, and also to normalize the notion that embedded trauma effects are actually expected, and fortunately, can be treated.
Traumatic experiences are stored in many different areas of the brain and sensory system. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) are effective and highly researched modalities to move traumatic memories from the conscious and subconscious, freeing the sensory system, so that we can "Keep the memory, lose the pain". Often we don't even realize what memories, experiences or general narratives such as "not good enough", even from childhood, are still impacting us and our behaviour in the present day.

Addressing known or unknown traumas undoubtedly helps the individual, but will have positive effects throughout different areas of your life, including work, relationships, and patience in parenting.

Assessment for fit to receive EMDR or ART treatments will be discussed during the first session and target memories/themes will be identified.
